Technology Leadership Development Program - Software Engineer Internship

The Programme

Johnson & Johnson Technology (JJT) is where business, technology and innovation intersect, helping Johnson & Johnson meet the most critical health care needs around the world. Interns will get to learn about technology, design thinking, agile methodology, and apply them to help JJT deliver game-changing, technology-driven business models and capabilities to consumers, patients, nurses and doctors.

You will be part of a dynamic internship class based in our state-of-the-art Asia Pacific Headquarters in Singapore and be part of a structured internship program which includes tailored learning sessions, coaching from mentors and supervisor, and exposure to experienced management.

There are two Software Engineer internship openings:

  • Software Engineer Intern – Data & Analytics.
  • Software Engineer Intern – Software Defined Data Centre.

What You Will Do

Software Engineer Intern – Data & Analytics:

  • Performing data engineering/science activities including data consolidation and analysis to identify underlying patterns, trends and business insights.
  • Assisting in technical analysis of business problems to shape new technical solutions.
  • Working with a team to build different digital or visualization solutions that consume data to address analytics needs across different J&J sectors.
  • Exploring new technologies in the digital or analytics space to create prototypes and demonstrate value to business.
  • Learning and applying best practices of Agile, DevOps, software documentation, and source management.
  • Communicating technical concepts and ideas in business language to stakeholders such as Product Owners and Management.

Software Engineer Intern – Software Defined Data Centre

  • Transforming business requirements into high quality dashboards and visualization leveraging a combination of Tableau and programming languages such as Python and R.
  • Discovering, innovating, and prototyping new technologies and solutions such as capacity/demand forecasting and predictive models to solve evolving problems in on-premise cloud hosting capacity optimization and management.
  • Learning and applying best practices of Agile, DevOps, software documentation, and source management.
  • Learning next generation technologies in both private and public cloud hosting solutions.
  • Communicating technical concepts and ideas in business language to stakeholders such as Product Owner and Management.
  • Assisting in technical analysis of business problems and design application architecture.
  • Interfacing with business users to optimize and reduce overall infrastructure TCO.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Be available full-time for a period of minimum 20 weeks, starting 14 January 2019 latest.
  • Be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, preferably in Technology, Computing, Business Analytics or Engineering related majors.
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Have initiative, enthusiasm and willingness to learn in a dynamic environment.
  • Have interest and fundamentals in advanced analytics concepts, scripting, development tools and languages (R, Python, Java, Weka, RapidMiner, TensorFlow, Google/Amazon APIs).
  • Familiarity with common data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, MicroStrategy, Qlik, D3.js) will be a bonus.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum, SDLC, SQL, RDBMS or Web Development (AngularJS, PHP, NodeJS) will be a bonus.
  • Relevant internship experience is preferred.
