James graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a double degree in Computing and Management. After training at FDM he began his placement at BNP Paribas in CIB Global Markets ITO as a Project Management Officer, which he believes is a fantastic role to kick start his career in IT Project Management. There are three major tasks he completes every day. Firstly, in terms of Project and Portfolio Management, he provides assistance and control throughout the project lifecycle of different projects, from project initiation to project closure. In addition to this, he produces monthly KPI dashboard and financial reports to senior management on departmental costs and headcount. Finally, he manages ad-hoc in-house projects such as SLA management project (to clean up and maintain ITO SLA repository) and GREEN project (to reduce paper consumption in ITO department). Hard work pays off as James was recognised as the Consultant of the Month in June 2017. He is delighted that his hard work is being recognised and it gives him encouragement to keep up the good work.

"After graduating from the University of Surrey with a Mathematics degree, Andy decided to move Hong Kong to pursue his career in IT. Being in a new city, it wasn’t easy for him to find a job, as he was considering career paths that required more IT and computing training. He found it increasingly difficult as he hadn't undertaken more of the mathematical coding courses within his degree. FDM has enabled him to be more confident within the IT sector and provided him that initial jump to interview with many high class clients. In addition to this the training FDM provides has given him a better understanding of where IT is progressing and its interconnectedness with so many different fields and ideas in more ways than he had ever imagined.
He is working as a Data Analyst at CLP, a utilities company in Hong Kong. Responsibilities include doing analysis on historical data to find actionable insights that will benefit the company in terms of cost, time and resources. Being able to find small parts of the data that our users have never noticed before and needing to investigate further to find the root of the problem. As a lover of puzzles he find investigating the problems at work incredibly interesting as he is not only learning about parts of the business (the BA part of his role) but also applying this to the historical data (the DA part).”

Mason graduated with honours in Business Management from York University and was able to seamlessly transfer his knowledge into a managerial position right after graduating. He has always been intrigued by how fast technology is changing the landscape of multiple industries but he never thought it would mean building a career in IT. After two years in retail management, his desire to learn about technology pushed him forward to transition into building an IT career. He was enrolled in the first Hong Kong Academy training programme and placed at Fidelity as a Project Support Officer. He is responsible for dynamically understanding the needs of the business and being able to relay these findings to his scrum team and plan to execute backlog priorities within each sprint.
"FDM creates an environment which encourages me to be open minded. Understanding that different people offer different knowledge, opinions and values will ultimately help make solutions more diverse. I have become more receptive of how others think as there is more than one way to accomplish the same goal. Being able to listen is a valuable communication skill that FDM has helped me realise."
